It started with helping a few fellow driving instructors.
Spinner Web Design wasn't created as a traditional web agency. It grew from something much simpler — building websites for people we knew, solving real problems and discovering that we were rather good at it.
We'd seen plenty of driving-school websites and kept thinking: “We can do this better.”
They were well received, generated positive feedback and achieved good visibility in search results.
From driving instruction to web design.
Our background is in driver training. After more than 20 years in the industry, we'd seen a lot of driving-school websites — including plenty that were dated, difficult to use or simply didn't reflect the quality of the instructor behind them.
So we started building them ourselves.
Initially, it was about helping fellow driving instructors. The aim was simple: create websites that looked professional, worked properly on a phone and made it easy for potential pupils to understand the business and get in touch.
The response was better than we'd expected. The websites were well received, performed well in search results and more instructors began asking us to build or redesign their sites.
What had started as helping people within an industry we already knew began to develop into a business in its own right.
Not from trying to create another traditional web agency, but from finding a straightforward way to build good websites for real small businesses.
Then we realised it didn't need to stop with driving schools.
The more websites we built, the clearer something became. The challenges faced by driving instructors are shared by thousands of other sole traders and small businesses.
Need local customers to find them, trust them and request a quote.
Need a professional presence that makes choosing them feel easy.
Need credibility, clear services and an easy way to start a conversation.
Need a website that represents the quality of the business behind it.
A good small-business website has a simple job to do.
Whether you're teaching someone to drive, fitting a kitchen, providing a professional service or running a local business, your website needs to help the right customer choose you.
That's why Spinner grew beyond the driver-training industry. Today, we're building professional websites for sole traders and small businesses, while retaining specialist knowledge of the industry where it all started.
Real businesses. Real websites.
Some of our first projects were for independent driving instructors. Each business had its own personality, services and customers — so each website needed to feel like their own.

We haven't forgotten where we came from.
Driving instructors remain an important specialist area for Spinner. With more than 20 years in driver training, we understand the industry from the inside — not simply from researching it for a website.
Experience working in and running businesses within the driver-training industry.
First-hand experience of instructor training and the professional ADI market.
Experience beyond learner tuition, including professional and fleet driver development.
Diploma in Driver Education, supporting a deeper understanding of driver development.
We understand learner tuition, instructor training, fleet work, local lesson areas and the way potential pupils search for an instructor. That's why driving-instructor websites remain a genuine Spinner specialism.
Keep it simple. Make it good. Charge a sensible price.
That's really the thinking behind Spinner. Small businesses shouldn't need a huge agency budget to have a website that looks professional and does its job properly.
Make it professional.
Your website is often one of the first impressions a potential customer gets of your business. It should reflect the quality of the service you provide — not make you look smaller or less established than you really are.
Don't overcomplicate it.
Most small businesses don't need an enormous website or a package full of features they'll never use. We focus on the pages, information and functionality that genuinely help customers understand and contact your business.
Keep the process straightforward.
You know your business. We'll handle the website. We gather the information we need, build around your business and keep the process clear without expecting you to become a web designer along the way.
Good web design doesn't need an agency-sized price tag.
By keeping the service focused and the process efficient, we can create professional websites at a price that makes sense for sole traders and small businesses.
Tell us about your business. We'll take it from there.
You don't need to know anything about building websites. Tell us about your business, what you do and what you need. We'll handle the website bit.
No obligation to proceed until we've reviewed your requirements and confirmed the price.
